FORM ATTACHMENTS / 4 MINUTE READ
Reattach a file after a form reload
A file selected in a browser form is not the same as a file received by the website. After a reload, check the field and the site's own upload status before you submit.
Keep the original file until submission is confirmed
Imagine a five-page internship application. You have written your answers and selected a portfolio PDF. The page times out or reloads. Keep the original PDF in a known folder; do not assume a filename on the screen means the website still has its contents. If the site provides its own saved-draft or upload receipt, use that as the authoritative status.
Recover answers, then review the attachment separately
AttachBack is a separate free Chrome extension by Duskel and CodeWithUmar. It can keep supported form answers and small files temporarily in Chrome's session storage. You can save a form deliberately or enable autosave for a site you trust. After a reload, it can fill matching empty fields and help reattach a saved file to a supported upload input. It does not submit the form, recreate a missing file, or confirm that the receiving website accepted an upload.
Check the Duskel product page for current Chrome Web Store availability. Use its official Store link when shown.
Check these items before pressing Submit
- Confirm the restored text belongs to this application and page.
- Open the upload field and check the correct file is selected.
- Wait for any website-side upload progress to finish.
- Read the website's filename, preview, or upload receipt if shown.
- Submit only when you are satisfied with the entire form.
Some websites use custom uploaders or embedded frames that an extension cannot restore. Others upload a file immediately when you attach it; reattaching may send another copy. Sensitive forms deserve extra caution: do not turn on autosave where a temporary local copy is inappropriate. See the AttachBack privacy policy for its supported data and limits.
